The Black Sheep love to teach snowboarding and give snowboard lessons in St. Anton! We have been giving snowboard courses for more than 2 decades with our heart and soul. Our instructors are 100% specialized in snowboarding.

We know how important your winter holiday is. You have probably been looking forward to it the whole year. We make sure you learn everything in a safe and fun way in an optimal environment.

St. Anton is not an easy place to learn snowboarding. A lot of the pistes are steep and the snow can be hard. All of our teaching methods have been tried and tested before at the Arlberg. Our instructors are inspiring (ex) pro-snowboarders who have the highest instructor grades and are true mountain people. Together with you we choose the most practical learning place with the best conditions and slope angles to reach your optimal learning curve. We inspire people; we know that you can become the best teacher yourself.

Discover your potential

Maybe you saw it on television or heard from a friend that snowboarding is the coolest wintersport ever. Well your friend is right, but we will make you no illusions. For the most people the first three days of snowboarding are the toughest ones. We can make these days a lot more pleasant.

Snowboarding is a balance sport and you only have one board and no poles as opposed to skiing where you have two poles and two skies. Then when you manage to link your first turns, you learn much quicker than on skies. You can go much quicker off piste and learn tricks. If you have got boardsport experience or when you are sporty you can learn the basics even quicker in a private lesson with us.

Start linking your turns

You know how to drift your board on your backside and on your frontside, also known as your heelside and toeside. You make single turns, but it still takes a lot of time to link them? For some it’s the fear that blocks them from linking turns, for some the drifting technique is not completely working and for other snowboarders it’s only working on flat slopes. We have some special programs for each learning type. There are many factors that can disturb your turns, but one thing is sure! If you can link your turns solidly, you will have much more fun on your board and safe tons of energy.

Snowboard lessons for kids

The most asked questions from parents are: “How old does my child have to be to learn snowboarding, and do you need skiing experience first?” It all depends on their own motivation and your expectations. The kids snowboards are getting smaller and better each year. There are snowboards for 2 year old kids without bindings and they look like a snowskate. It’s a great tool to get the first experience on a board in very playful way, because you can use them as a sled as well.

We have experienced with our own kids that this works for some and for some it doesn’t. In our opinion you don’t have to have skiing experience first! But the experience with mountains, snow and speed will definitely help. Generally a good starting age has always been 8 years, but with a private instructor you can start to learn snowboarding when you are 4 years old.
