Snowboarding has started as an anti-establishment movement against skiers. Snowboarders used to be banned and were not allowed in the skiing areas. You had to be creative without lifts if you wanted to snowboard, a lot of influence came from skateboarding. Jibbing benches, rails, building jumps and looking for obstacles that had to be approached in a way like skateboarders did.
Nowadays slopestyle and halfpipe snowboarding are the most viewed sports at the Olympics. Athletes became professional, and the teaching methods and funparks of freestyle snowboarding have evolved incredibly.
We safely teach how to jib on the pistes, jump (cliffs), tweak grabs, spin in all four directions and make grinds on rails and benches. When the powder is right, we build backcountry kickers with soft landings to learn new tricks. The funpark of St. Anton is small, but very well maintained with an easy & medium and pro area. The funpark is the perfect stomping ground for every snowboarder that wants to learn tricks.
