Japow Hokkaido freeride trip

Japan hits different

This trip is truly special. In Japan, people are still kind, the snow is still dry, and the food—oh, the food—is worth an extra paragraph to write about. We’re heading to Japan for an unforgettable snowboarding adventure in deep powder through beautiful forests, where visibility remains excellent even in intense snowfall. We steer clear of the largest Hokkaido ski resorts because we believe in the authenticity of smaller, lesser-known areas that are less westernised and where you'll find locals snowboarding.

For the first half of the week, we’ll be exploring the southern region, driving daily to various snowboarding spots from Otaru. In the second half, we’ll continue our journey from Furano. After a day on the slopes, we’ll unwind in traditional Japanese onsens.

Japanese cuisine is an unforgettable part of the experience. From the moment you arrive, you'll discover a world of flavors, with fresh sushi and sashimi that showcase the country’s commitment to quality and taste. Warm, hearty ramen and udon dishes are perfect for recharging after a day on the slopes, while traditional izakayas offer a cozy atmosphere to enjoy local specialties like tempura and yakitori. Don’t miss the opportunity to savor regional delicacies unique to Hokkaido, such as miso ramen and creamy seafood dishes. Each meal is not just about food but a cultural experience, enhancing your journey with every bite.

What level of snowboarding should I have?

Participants should have a high level of snowboarding experience, especially in deep powder. It's crucial to be adept at navigating through dense tree runs and maintaining speed on flatter and steeper terrain. The ability to keep up momentum while turning through the forest is essential for a smooth and enjoyable ride. The terrain in Hokkaido offers a mix of challenges, and being quick on your feet and skilled at handling varied snow conditions will ensure a fun and safe experience.
